Massive Heat Wave in South Korea

The current heat wave sweeping South Korea has claimed hundreds of thousands of domestic animals.

At least 830,000 farm animals, including 786,000 chickens, 41,000 ducks and 300 pigs, have died in the heat wave over the past three weeks as power outages knocked out ventilation and cooling systems at factory farms.  [readon]

The number of animals killed may rise as more reports come in. And there’s no relief at night: the country is also experiencing its longest streak of the so-called tropical nights where there’s no cooling down during the evening hours.
