A new relationship with animals, nature and each other.

School’s New Teacher Is Very Feline

“He’s a unifying force,” says principal

After a fire destroyed hundreds of homes in Montecito, California, Rex and his person moved into a cottage just opposite the local elementary school.

Rex decided he liked the company on the other side of the street, and kept showing up for class. Eventually, the school co-adopted him, and he’s made a huge difference for the kids.

Editor’s Note: Many people may point out that cats shouldn’t be wandering around outdoors, especially in the road. That’s true. But we do like what Rex is doing, and given the option of being cooped up in a small cottage or having a great time at school and making a difference for the kids, we’d have to say: Let’s make an exception this time!
