The Indian Canyon Pictographs – Sunday Hike

In Europe, the Roman Empire was collapsing. Christianity was on the rise. Islam was yet to be born. And here in the American Southwest, on the walls of a small dome cave, about 1,600 years ago, a group of ancestral Pueblo people, or Anasazi, were telling their own story in paintings.

Indian Canyon Cave is just a few miles from my own home at Angel Canyon in Southern Utah, near Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. You need a four-wheel-drive vehicle to make your way along the sandy trail that takes you behind the Coral Pink Sand Dunes:
